Another great evening option in Saint Petersburg is to visit Mikhailovsky theatre located in the central part of Saint Petersburg on Arts (Isskustv) square. The theatre was named after Grand Duke Michael and first opened its doors to the public in 1833 by the decree of the emperor Nicolas I. Numerous classical ballets like Don Quixote, Swan Lake, Le Corsaire, The Flames of Paris, Giselle and the famous Nutcracker are still performed on the stage of this Opera and Ballet Theatre nowadays.
