On the first day your tour guide will wait you with the sign “Show me Russia” in the lobby of your hotel or inside the sea terminal in front of your cruise ship, he or she will show you to the private car and you will start your day with the sightseeing tour around Saint-Petersburg, there will be many photo stops for you in the most picturesque areas, you will learn the history of our fascinating city, the story of Russian Royal family – Romanovs, find out about Russian October Revolution, Soviet period of times and the modern life of the second largest city in Russia.
Your private tour guide will also show you several subway stations and you will have a metro ride under the main river of our city – Neva River, admiring the deepest subway station in Russia – Admiralteyskaya, which is nearly 86 meters (282 ft) deep.
After the private tour inside Saint Isaac’s Cathedral you will have a romantic boat tour along rivers and canals of Saint-Petersburg which is also called the Venice of the North. It will be on a regular boat with an English-speaking guide. You will enjoy the view of the Neva river, Fountain river, Moyka river and the shortest Winter canal which is only 230 meters long.
When boat tour is finished your tour guide will show you a typical local café where your lunch will be already waiting for you. After a lunch stop you will visit the most ornate church in Saint-Petersburg and a “must-see” for every tourist – Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, which is decorated with 7500 square meters of mosaics, onion-shaped domes, granite plaques and enamels.
In 10 min drive from the church you will discover Peter and Paul Fortress – the very heart of our city, constructed by the order of Peter the Great in 1703. On the territory of the fortress you will visit the burial place of all Russian Tsars – Peter and Paul Cathedral where you will find marble tombs of Peter the Great and Nicholas II with his family – the very first Russian Emperor and the last one. After that your private driver will take you back to the hotel or to the cruise ship.
On the second day of your St Petersburg cruise tours you will be met in the same place by the same tour guide who will take you to Peterhof by hydrofoil boat (40min) or by car (1 hour in case of bad weather conditions) so you will be able to explore the Lower Fountain Park, the so-called Russian Versailles with amazing gardens, golden fountains, marble sculptures, pavilions, cascades and funny trick fountains. Your tour guide will make an excursion inside the Grand Palace in Peterhof and then you will have a lunch stop in a restaurant nearby.
After lunch you will have 1 hour drive across the countryside to another small town which has two names – Tsar’s Village or town of Pushkin. There you will see another highlight of the city – Catherine Palace with famous Amber Room inside. It was designed by the order of Peter the Great for his wife Catherine I in the early 18th century. Nowadays it is visited by 15000 tourists every day. We can organize special VIP tickets to Catherine Palace and you won’t waste your time standing in the queues. After the tour inside the palace you will get back to Saint-Petersburg and approximately by 17:30 return to your hotel or a cruise ship.
On the third day of your St Petersburg cruise tours you will be taken to the world-famous Hermitage museum which occupies 5 buildings of the Winter Palace, the Small Hermitage museum, the Old Hermitage museum, the New Hermitage museum and the Hermitage Theatre. Your private tour guide will show you all of them including the main “gems” of the Hermitage museum collection such as the Peacock clock, Leonardo da Vinci paintings, Michelangelo sculpture, Rafael’s paintings, Titian’s paintings and other works of art by many prominent artists.
After a short walk across the Palace Square you will have an excursion inside the General Staff Building which exhibits the collection of French Impressionists paintings. This amazing exposition includes paintings by Monet, Renoir, Picasso, Van Gogh, Matisse and other Impressionists and Post-Impressionists. Lunch stop will be made for you in the Russian restaurant nearby.
At the end of St Petersburg cruise tours you will visit private Faberge museum with the unique collection of Imperial Easter Eggs decorated by Carl Faberge for the last Russian Emperors – Alexander III and his son Nicholas II. Museum houses an interesting collection of 19-20 century jewelry, silverware, gold ware, porcelain, stone-works and icons as well decorated by Faberge company and his contemporaries. All in all, there are nearly 4000 objects inside. After this fascinating tour in the Faberge museum your private tour guide and the driver will take you back to the cruise ship or to the hotel.
